Review on Farberware 5082875 Paring Knife Small by Dustin Miller

Great knife! on special knives

This knife does its job perfectly! It was actually my second as my first one apparently grew legs and ran away. at least that's what my roommate wants me to believe. I'm a bit of a knife snob and can't stand poor quality or design (dull blades, curved blades, awkward handles). And if I see someone trying to put a good knife in the dishwasher, sound the alarm. It's a crime in my house. I have had many knives over the years and I can tell you this is a great product for the price. The handle feels good, the blade is sharp and the sheath is a nice bonus for protecting it. Ceramic still has limitations in what I cut, but it's my go-to for things like fruit, cheese, and small items. Over the years the durability of ceramic has greatly improved and it is much stronger but as the description says DO NOT USE it for hard density products (yams). My sister used my big ceramic knife to cut up sweet potatoes for Thanksgiving last year. When I got home, I found my favorite three-piece knife. It was a sad day. It is written that it can be washed in the dishwasher, but I have never tried it and never will. Even for a budget knife, this little one only gets hand washed. You must own this knife.

Pros
  • Do not use for frozen food, hard fruit, vegetables or cheese or to open packaging
Cons
  • Slightly torn
