The Raspberry Pi Zero is powerful, cheap and small. The built-in Wi-Fi is acceptable but not up for speed or range. If you use Zero for network activity like Pi-Hole to block ads or provide VPN services then this is a great addition. It gets everything it needs through the USB connector, so none of the GPIO pins are blocked. It can be installed with the included stands without a GPIO header. Ethernet offers a real data transfer rate of 100 Mbit/s. Ookla data transfer test below. Latency: 11.11 ms (jitter 3.55 ms) Download: 100.92 Mbit/s (data used: 172.5 MB) This is an elegant solution to add an ethernet port to the Pi Zero, and there aren't any additional dongles or adapters required. They include a special USB to USB adapter that is ideal for connecting the hat to the motherboard.
