Review on πŸ’Ž Diamond Extra Sharpener: Revolutionize Your Sharpening Experience with DMT WAV! by Matthew Baltimore

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Quality is there but not the hype

This sharpener was purchased to make it easier to sharpen beaded blades from combination blades. What I've found is that the radius of your blade fits the tool very little. Obviously this is done so that the rather short sharpener can accommodate both the largest and smallest blades/tools. While this makes sense on paper, it doesn't give you much room to work with the tool before you're out of the radius you need. I've since adapted a more advanced system. However, I use DMT products (stones) to sharpen both planes and chisels and have been very happy with them for a very long time. I will continue to buy DMT but this one just doesn't live up to the hype in my opinion. Edit 12/12/12: I learned a little trick that makes this product more useful than originally intended. Instead of attempting to sharpen the bevel on a beading blade, I now smooth the back of the stone, turn it over and remove the slight burr on the beveled side of this product as if it were a plain whetstone. This makes it much easier, faster, significantly extends the life of the bevel and the iron stays just as sharp.
