Both radios operate on a fully charged rechargeable battery or 3 AA batteries. Tried both ways. in the house But when I took them out hunting, one or both of the radios wouldn't work at all, wouldn't turn on at all. Works only after batteries are removed or battery packs are disconnected and reconnected. I bought it in fall 2015. I only used it in the next hunting season in 2016. At that point I could not return. Have done this every time I've tried them at different times thinking I'm doing something wrong but they've done the same thing every time. That's rubbish, be careful when you look at these Motorola T465 radios.
