Review on 🔇 Premium Rubber/Cork Anti Vibration Pads - 4 Pack, 4"x4"x7/8" - Effective Vibration Isolation Pads by John Fenton

I earmarked these pads for the second floor dryer as I could hear the rumble of the machine downstairs. Although the pads greatly reduced rumble, the smell on these things is awful. I read a few other reviews that mentioned a strong smell but thought they might be exaggerating. Without exaggeration! These things are hot! I took them out of the box and scrubbed them down with soap and a toothbrush (no, I'm not a cleaning freak). I didn't want to use a detergent based cleaner to avoid damaging the cork or the plastic/rubber adhesive. It does not matter. However, the chemical smell is so strong that even with an active allergy and a stuffy nose, I can smell these things exuberantly in just 20 minutes after unpacking and cleaning. While my eyes are also irritated, going upstairs allowed my eyes to go back to normal. I tested the sound of the dehumidifier with them. It really reduces unwanted noise. However, the strong smell blew me away. I left the pads on the outside as I hope the chemicals will evaporate and make them usable. My concern is that since the cork material is porous, it absorbs chemicals, causing them to smell constantly in the product. If it wasn't for this major flaw, I would have given it 5 stars.
