Very bad design 42 years in telecom I've seen all kinds of connections. The side of the tape is poking through from underneath and not making proper contact with the gasket. You can have continuity, but it's not reliable (fails under load). The wire side uses insulation bias which is usually reliable, but the design does not keep the wire in alignment when crimping the connector. If you think this is like Scotchlock connections, then it isn't. Instead I soldered the wires. Would return them but I used the wire for the project.
