When I received this unit and installed the battery, I had to force the battery into the compartment to attach the battery cover. After installing the battery, the device worked normally. However, if you remove the battery cover and then put it back on the device, it will not turn on. I had to operate the device with pliers to remove the battery. Thinking the product was defective, I requested a replacement from Revain. When a new device arrived - the same problem. It's possible that this is designed so that once the battery is inserted you have to fight the device to remove it, and after the battery cover is removed you have to remove and reinsert the battery for the device to turn on. To me, that's a bad design and I wouldn't trust carrying this device in the field when my time and tools are limited. The problem with the battery compartment was decisive for me, I returned the second device and will buy another range finder.
