Review on πŸ” Cackle Hatchery 12-Pack Laying Hen Nest Box Pads by Kimberly Perry

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Strong, comfortable liners that go well with our nest boxes

We have had issues with liners from several other companies which were too flimsy and brittle for everyday use so I was very pleased to see how the liners performed function. with our hardworking girls. We have seven nests for 10 (soon to be 15) hens ranging in size from Ameraucan to Orpington, all laying at least three eggs a week. MANY nest wars, y'all. When one of the pads in a frequently used box wears out, I compost it and replace it with a pad from a less frequently used box, and then add a new pad. It helps me cut costs a bit. Any leftover pads are stored in a Rubbermaid airtight tub to protect them from water and vermin. I recommend these pads to everyone I know, especially those exploring the five freedoms. Our hens love being able to position their nest pads to their liking and the rubber pads don't allow for that, while the use of shavings means I have a big mess to clean up after they've knocked out all the shaves. and place a large pile of eggs on a flat wooden surface.

Pros
  • Sturdy workmanship
Cons
  • Goods damaged
