The handles are made of plastic!
It should be noted that although the body is metal the handles are not metal this makes it feel cheap but hopefully still better than other valves with plastic stems that break. There is no good range for me to get a standard open end wrench to tighten. I tried using a strap wrench but it didn't hold! I ended up using a lock wrench to tighten it.
