Review on 🌑️ Briidea Common Thermostats with Enhanced Wire Accessory by Evan Hernandez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works well but was a pain to install.

The product served its purpose and is a good solution for a hard to reach thermostat with more than 4 to 5 wires that would require something like an outlet with a basic Heating and cooling are needed to function properly. If you have less in your wall, it's probably not worth it for a standard HVAC system. Even with 4 wires and two such kits, you can only get the equivalent of 6 wires, which won't work with anything you'll find in a typical household (just choose one from two-stage heating, two-stage cooling, and a humidifier). If it's even moderately available, just buy a good flexible drill bit and put in a new 7/8 wire bundle for the thermostat. However, the installation on my oven was a problem. First, the included wires are very short, to the point where I had to lengthen them to get to the mounting surface. Second, the extra wires didn't match the terminal screws along with the native wires, so I had to crimp the spade terminals onto each pair. Third, it is to use a wire nut to connect the diode to the blue wire. Several thermostats, including mine, use solid/rigid wire and small holes in the wall. The wire nut didn't hold up well under this load so you may need to either drill a larger hole in the wall or replace the connection with something stronger, e.g. B. fixed mechanical twisting and soldering. Expect minor changes to make things work. This type of product is not for those who do not have a basic power tool set (drill, fasteners, shrink wrap, pullers, wire cutters, crimping pliers, spare wire, binding posts, etc.) and the convenience to work with them, but otherwise I would recommend it.
