All this negative feedback on this step is probably because people didn't read the installation instructions. Photos are attached to the instructions. Follow them and you should have no problem backing up this step. The installation took me 10 minutes. I didn't have to remove my existing 2 inch ball. The step is attached to the bottom of the ball. Then the top plate is attached from above. The washer used is a piece of plastic or a washer that someone mentioned should be metal. You don't have to use a plastic part. However, I installed as stated. I had to remove the pre-cut pieces from the plastic disc to fit my base of the ball. Designed for different types of bases. Result. Great move to my flat bed and great price. It cost $39 at the local O'Reilly store. If necessary, use a cordless impact wrench to apply more torque to the screws. I hand tighten the bolts and then use my impact wrench. The level is SOLID.
