This handrail is much more durable than it appears in the pictures. There is an odd distortion in the description that suggests it's aluminum. This is a very heavy steel slat, beautifully painted. The supplied wall plugs are of acceptable quality - half a masonry drill bit is enough to drill through a brick wall to install. It comes with a 12/14mm open end wrench but I found it much easier to use a socket and ratchet. It makes it much safer to get out of my house onto the patio. Update 19 February 2020 I just installed a second one (grey this time) leading to my garage. Instead of the included anchor bolts, I bought local 1/2" x 3" screws and washers because I installed them into the garage's wood frame. It's reliable - anyone who says otherwise hasn't installed it correctly. Even if you installed it without washers and complained about the paint peeling off, you installed it incorrectly. It's much safer going into my garage like this.
