
This is the second ignition coil I have had to replace on my 2017 Hyundai Elantra (64,000 miles). From what I've read, this is a common problem with a 2017 Elantra 1st coil that fails at 30,000 (#2 cylinder) and is covered under warranty. This one came out at 64K so I replaced myself (cylinder #3). Very light work; There are some good how-to videos on youtube. Only a 10mm bolt holds it above the spark plug. The exchange took less than 5 minutes. The key is to have an OBD2 scanner that can tell you which cylinder is malfunctioning/faulty. There are many scanners at AMZ that you can buy for less than $20. I find it easier to have your own OBD2 scanner than to take it to auto parts stores that offer free scans.
