I was very concerned when I bought such a large rug online when I saw the picture but I'm glad I did! We followed the instructions that came with it when we unboxed it and left it for a few days. At first glance I thought it looked a lot lighter than the photos, but after running our hands over it a few times and separating the fibers, it turned out to be the expected color and really lovely is. We bought a nice thick rug separately to put under it which sure adds to its comfort. At first (e.g. a month) it seemed too greasy to the touch. It wasn't exactly greasy, but you could feel some residue on your hands. It was always colourfast
