Good quality solid solid wood case with sturdy mounting. However, gaps in the original wood are filled with epoxy, which does not stain, and while the mold is well done and consistent, epoxy makes staining problematic. If you paint then there is no problem. If you get stains, have a contingency plan in place so he doesn't soak up the stain.
