It was easy for me to use it right out of the box. I'm not sure why so many people are having so many problems with it. Maybe just the people I hang out with are jerks. Sturdy enough, no idea how long it will last. The light is getting heavier, it takes more hit attempts than it did when I first got it, so it throws a lot of people off because they keep turning the fuel tap back and fourth. Once the torch flame is lit, the jet flame will hit or miss and you'll have to play with the fuel setting a bit. But it's easy to do because the flame is conveniently adjustable with a fingertip (which is what I look for in lighters), the only thing it lacks is a fuel window.
