This is a popular drive as it is known to support UHD. I bought a couple of these for this purpose and had to flash the firmware to make them Blu-ray UHD capable again. If you're late to the game, the manufacturers of all these UHD-friendly drives have started releasing firmware to spin the drive when UHD media is detected. So you'll need to downgrade the firmware to make it work with UHD drives if you recently bought this drive. . Whatever you do, make sure you know what you're doing before downgrading the firmware. You can't just reflash the firmware you find online to the hard drive as you have to "roll over" the calibration date with the firmware. So you need to remove the firmware from your drive, merge it with the 'clean' and older firmware, and then overwrite the firmware.
