I chose this cutter because it is well designed and a quality product. I expected to be able to clamp the cutter in a vise and then use the filter wrench to turn the oil filter for cutting. This worked well EXCEPT for the feed mechanism to be the same width as the rail. Because they are the same width, the slider will get stuck in the vise if you try to advance it. A quick fix would be to make the slide slightly narrower than the rail so it moves forward. In the meantime I used a vise to clamp it at the end which wasn't secure but it worked.
