Pros and cons of this option. Pros: Nice design. Strips of wood of different colors are very pleasant to the touch. Gives a nice look. Grip cutouts are good. I like the recessed area on one side. I can think of many uses for it. edge grain. The price is pretty tempting. Cons: In a word, quality control. At least that's my experience with problems like this. First, it's not flat. I was expecting some warping after moderate use due to the 1.1 inch thickness. Most quality cutting boards are 2 inches or thicker. To do this, however, it was necessary to run through the scheduler several times. It has a very noticeable dip at one end of the lighter streaks. Verification with calipers and a micrometer will confirm high and low ranges. It looks like there are gaps at the joints of each board that appear to be filled with something. It has a notch on the flat surface with some discoloration of tomato juice color. Worst of all, it has a crumpled corner. You can see the fibers embedded in this dent. This is the protective material that lines the box. The corner of the cutting board box was also dented, but the Revain's outer box was undamaged. Makes me think it was dropped before packing. All in all, I think this might be a flashback. But again, the price is much lower than similarly attractive cutting boards. Looks great on the counter. Haven't used it yet so can't comment on durability. I will update my review when I have this information. Some of you may be wondering why I don't just trade it in. Well, if durability isn't great, I wouldn't even want less quality issues. So I really want this board to be liked and it appears to be a small, homegrown company. UPDATE 11/14/2019 The company has kindly offered to provide a replacement board including all costs without the need for a refund of the original board. This is very convenient as nobody likes to go through the process of requesting and waiting for a return label or worse, paying for the return themselves. One of the founders also explained in detail the factors that influenced design decisions and product testing results. Seems to be a decent company and so far I'm impressed with their customer service. I'll report how smoothly the rest of the process goes. As for the durability of the board, I'm pleasantly surprised. I have used and washed the board many times. Using the same tests and measurements as the first test, there is no noticeable difference. He's holding up pretty well. Update 01/20/2020 I received my replacement board in just a few days. Ignore the timestamp in this update. I've been waiting for an update so I can report on the durability of this item. The replaced board had none of the defects that the original had. In all measurements and tests, it is flat and the same thickness. My experience with this board was very pleasant. Dozens of tomatoes, carrots, over 100 onions and kilos of cilantro and parsley were chopped on this board. I am satisfied with the durability. No chips, splinters or discoloration. The combination of customer service and product quality means I will definitely buy from this seller again.
