You can only tighten the tripod screw and the stand will still rotate if you move it too far. If you're soft it will stay in place, but if your feet are springy simply opening or closing the device can cause your base to move. In addition, there is no extra hole for installing an optional 1/4" tripod mount and it is not compatible with Acra. So if you think about it, you need to take it off if you want to use a real tripod. This is a problem as I often use full size tripods. It's a neat little gadget, but those 2 hiccups are enough to keep me coming back. That might be fine for a vacation, but even then your photos (when taking selfies) will be at an upward angle. I wanted to try it and liked it, but after getting it I just don't understand the topic. Not for me.
