Works better than expected so far. I bought 6 of these for a farm surrounded by pine trees and hills. I need to move security cameras and gate controls 1.5 miles from here. At 23dB (hot full power) that's over 1.5 miles. I plan to use the autorange settings to account for rain and snow. I also tested one attached to my Linux laptop to connect to a cheap AP Belkin router in my house. I used to be able to walk just 50 feet from my house. Now over 250 feet. With this m2 loco as a station in my car with laptop and inverter. So yes, it can be used as a laptop-powered antenna for an existing Wi-Fi router. Additional test through a forest of approximately 250 feet of trees, by double sheave at one end and single sheave at the other end. Total distance 1678 feet. At 89% full signal.
