I had to repair the heater core for a long time and always found it to be a good idea. If you spent all that time digging through the Jeep ZJ dash to get out the air conditioner, consider replacing the evaporator as well. In contrast to the heating core, the evaporator core is very similar to the built-in one. The only thing that irritates me is the lack of rubber sleeves on the hoses, like the original. This was fixed by removing the originals and fitting a new core. If you have never done your own kernel installation, WARNING!. the thing is closed under pressure! It must keep it clean and protect it from damage during assembly. I removed the metal clip and it caught my finger. Oh! It fit perfectly in the box and I was able to adjust the original foam configuration for the core but the foam in and around it for the inside of the AC box was crap so I hope it doesn't cause any problems for the core. . Garbage that accumulates around it over time. It seemed like it was working fine. I hope to find out soon when I load up the system.
