Review on ☕ SHARDOR Electric Burr Coffee Grinder: Precision Grinding with 14 Settings for Espresso, French Press, and More - Includes Cleaning Brush! by Chris Willis

Ideal for drip and french press, but not for espresso.

I was concerned when it came time to look for a new grinder. My previous experience with a low average. The price of grinders is that they never grind fine enough (even at the highest fine setting) to make a good espresso. Even if they call the finest grind setting "espresso grind". So since I didn't want to spend too much money and needed something pretty quick, I went with this one. It was slim, compact (a big plus for me) and will hopefully do what I need... But unfortunately, as I feared, it just doesn't achieve the grind level I need for my espresso. Now don't get me wrong, this little machine works well and looks great on my countertop! It works very well, the grind is smooth and so fast I don't really have to fiddle with the 'timer'. It's also easy to clean. I love how you can just twist and pull the burr off the top for cleaning. All in all, while it's noisy (which is to be expected), even with the finest grind, it doesn't work well enough for a good washing machine. The steam/pressure just shoots water through it. I have to run the set through the machine twice to get the consistency required for my crema. Now I get perfect foam with it so I'm happy with it and it still saves me time but it's annoying that I can't use the funnel as intended. In general, if you have a regular coffee maker or French Press, you will be very happy with what it produces for its price. Note: I agree with other reviewers about the timer. It doesn't match "cup size" / number of beans (at least not for the best settings). A timer is basically like a toaster, you set it for the time you want it to run, so it's really easy to set up. No deal breaker. And it generates a lot of static electricity, but that's because of those metal burrs/plastic cases. You simply tap the container hard on the counter a few times before opening it.

Pros
  • Stable test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
