Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Dorman 970-011 ABS Wheel Speed Sensor - Black (for Compatible Models) by Marco Wilson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Just as good if not better than OEM.

My 2000 Silverado had ABS issues for years that low speed didn't stop. This was a known issue on early GM 00-03. For the rust belt states, there's even a silent tip on the subject. In any case, after it has been delivered to the dealer and they will do a quick continuity test, clean the sensor, send it back and find it good. This fix seemed to take about 5-6 months and was due to the ABS issues. I ordered them because I thought I'd give them a shot at the price. If they don't work I just go back and pull the ABS fuse again and ride without ABS. Didn't want to undertake a hub swap (recommended by the dealer and several mechanics) unless the bearings and ball joints needed repairs. It just seemed a little too much. The sensors come in nice packaging along with some dielectric grease for the joints. Was very surprised to see that they were kind enough to include a hex bolt to hold it in place. Fits perfectly and installation went smoothly. After installation I immediately noticed a difference in the performance of my brakes compared to the old sensors. The ABS didn't seem to be as sensitive as the OEM sensor. It was a welcome downside, if I do say so myself, because anyone who drives on ice/snow regularly will probably also agree that the GM ABS is too sensitive to touch than it should be to stop . If you have the skills to change disc brakes (the calipers have to be removed to get to the sensor), you can do the job yourself and save yourself a few bucks.
