Review on Stromberg Carlson CC100 Cargo Caddy by Don Merritt

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Due to the weight of the transporter, the box was badly dented on arrival.

I don't normally write reviews right after receiving an order, but I didn't want to forget the finer points of assembly before I'd given the product enough time to give a real review. was shipped in a corrugated cardboard box with no other boxes. Due to the weight of the carrier, the box was badly dented when it got to my door and all the hardware inside was rattling. There were a few decent holes in the box, but to my surprise, all the hardware was there when I opened it. None of the parts were scratched or bent. Assembly: The instructions are simple and the holder is pretty easy to figure out. It would be nice if they mentioned that the front and back needle plates are not symmetrical and need to be aligned correctly; Otherwise, do not insert more than two screws. I assembled mine with the nuts out to make the most of the usable cargo space in the trunk. All in all, assembly took a little over 15 minutes. I'm a mechanic and things like that have become second nature to me. I guess it could take twice as long for a less confident person. About the car: I put it on the back of our 2017 Subaru Forester and it sits a little closer to the car than other vans I've seen. what I like. While the receiver has significant play, it goes away with the anti-rattle kit (I got it on the $6 Revain). it didn't seem to bend or move. I have yet to take it on a trip, but we'll be going camping soon! So far I'm happy with the carrier.
