Our sink already has a wastebasket for collecting food but I got tired of banging it against the side of the bin to empty it. It never worked and I had to scrape the material off with my fingers. Pooh. It *seems* a good idea, but I'm having the exact same problem. I prepared food and scooped the leftovers into my new basket instead of the sink, but when it came time to clean up, I couldn't get all the leftovers out of the basket. Lots of parts sticking to the sides. I had to clean it with my hands again, so I'm no better than before. I can't wash the basket with water because I don't want to fill my garbage bags with water. How else are you supposed to clean this thing? It's well made, looks good and I think it will stand up to the task, but I can't rate it because it doesn't work for me. YMMV.
