Review on Pentek 10 Standard Housing Pressure by Kimberly Elliott

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Leaky, holey, holey filter.

The plastic that makes up this filter is very soft to the touch and doesn't mix well with metal fittings. I've tried iron and brass fittings, including Sharkbite connections with Teflon tape, and later plumbing (specifically for metal and plastic) and no matter what I did it still leaked. I've tightened the fittings all the way, but it's still leaking. It was very frustrating because I put a lot of time and effort into installing it and the filter wasn't working as intended. Instead I went to Home Depot and bought a GE whole house filter (12 GPM) for about the same money. Price. Everything went perfect on the first try: no leaks. I noticed a difference between the blue Pentek plastic and the white plastic on the GE and the latter seems more durable. This Pentek 150071 filter is back for Revain! The only reason I didn't give it a star is because the 150578 mount (the design and how it holds the filter) is actually very good.
