Review on Klein Tools VDV226-110 Ratcheting Crimper/Stripper/Cutter for RJ11/RJ12 & RJ45 Connectors by Julian Locklear

The crimping tool works great when used correctly.

I've seen some people complain about the wires not being completely cut and getting stuck; along with some other ailments. If you want this tool to work properly you need to do two very important things: 1. Use the correct Klein RJ45 connectors for the cable you are using! (i.e. do not use a CAT6 connector with CAT5E)2. Use the correct cable category. I tested it with connectors from another brand and had the issues that people have noticed. I also tried using the wrong connector for the cable type and got the same result. Buy a Klein plug and use the right size cable and the connections will be strong. The only thing I've seen with end-to-end connectors is the fact that you can easily create a bad cable. This happens when you run the cables through the connector and then pull the cables towards the front of the connector as tightly as possible. It looks good because almost no wires are visible, but it puts a lot of strain on the twisted-pair cables. So when making the cable, make sure that 1/4 inch cable goes through the plug (after the jacket and before the plugs). And don't be one of those people who leave so much cable lying around that the connector can't crimp the cable jacket. If you don't know what that means, watch a few YouTube videos on how to properly crimp a network cable. You don't want to be THAT guy.
