Review on πŸ’¨ NETGEAR Nighthawk CM1100: Next-Level Speed Cable Modem for XFINITY, Spectrum, and Cox Networks by Jarrod Zuvers

CM100 WARNING! REMEMBER ONLY ONE Ethernet port can be used

Works great. Easy installation. Good throughput. However, I bought this on purpose because it had TWO ethernet port outputs, with the intention of working with separate routers (one in my VPN and one separately for kids). Reading the Revain comments, questions, and reviews here, many assholes claim it can be done without a hitch. Not true. After connecting and reading the downloadable user guide, it becomes clear that these two ports are for link aggregation ONLY! In particular, it does NOT work for two separate connections. Called Netgear support and they say it's not possible, ONLY link aggregation. Interestingly I wanted to upgrade to the CM1200 which has FOUR ethernet ports as it clearly says you CAN connect separate devices but you need to get separate IP addresses from your ISP (at Cox, a separate account) / roommate account / Business account $$$). Also, Netgear tech support didn't even know you could use the CM1200 this way and had to contact an experienced tech. They said using multiple IP addresses to run different devices has only been proven for Comcast so far. It looks like if you want to do what I intended you'll need to buy a modem with a BUILT-IN router to share the signal. Impressive
