Easy to install but not durable

The modem hardware was installed and registered by Comcast in less than an hour. Great hardware and (unusually) great support from Comcast. Update: After four months, the data transfer rate has halved. The speed increased from 525 Mbit/s to 278 Mbit/s. I replaced it and a Netgear R6700v3 router with a Comcast xfinity gateway. My data rate is 575 Mbit/s again.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • There are errors

Finally an answer!

After several years of complaining to the charter, now Spectrum, about losing their cable signal on the modem (reset and reset) and losing communication several times a day, I bought this modem and voila! No more drops. Charter/Spectrum claimed the problem was with my Netgear Nighthawk R7000P router; It wasn't a problem, it was their gear the whole time. If they weren't the only cable solution we wouldn't be using them as we've had many issues over the years. Conclusion: This works very wellโ€ฆ

No connection to internet

After several hours of troubleshooting with Xfinity Support, this modem has never connected to the internet since it arrived. Xfinity confirms the device is activated, there is a signal to the modem, but "there is no internet access". They told me that the modem is defective. I've been using the Motorola SB6141 for 6 years and have never had any problems. Now that Xfinity no longer supports DOCSIS 3.0 I decided to upgrade my modem and this one was disappointing. Works great - Modems

The only time I had problems with the internet was my ISP's fault. It's not the best device for a 2Gbps connection. If I used it that way I would probably rate it 3 stars. But for a 1GB modem it's easily 5 stars. The reason I gave tech support 4 stars is because support is only guaranteed for 90 days. It seems they should stand up for their products a little longer. My experience with technical support was good. I made a mistake trying to enter the settings interface before connecting to myโ€ฆ

Doesn't work with Cox Gigablast

I had a Netgear Docsis 3.0 modem and liked it. Increased internet speed so I upgraded my modem to this Docsis 3.1 version to provide faster speeds. Received in the mail today, returned today. See the attached photo direct from the Cox website which shows this modem is compatible with the Cox Gigablast. However, it is NOT compatible with Cox Gigablast, straight out of the lips of a Cox employee and her manager. I called to switch to a Netgear modem but they couldn't do it. The Cox Panoramicโ€ฆ

CM100 WARNING! REMEMBER ONLY ONE Ethernet port can be used

Works great. Easy installation. Good throughput. However, I bought this on purpose because it had TWO ethernet port outputs, with the intention of working with separate routers (one in my VPN and one separately for kids). Reading the Revain comments, questions, and reviews here, many assholes claim it can be done without a hitch. Not true. After connecting and reading the downloadable user guide, it becomes clear that these two ports are for link aggregation ONLY! In particular, it does NOTโ€ฆ

Never buy hardware from Netgear again

I'm a video game techie and need a fast, reliable router that can handle a demanding home during COVID. I broadcast meetings all day, work with cloud services, there are two teenage gamers in the house, and my wife works too. I updated the entire network at once. I did a lot of research and finally settled on the Netgear Nighthawk hardware. Big mistake, in less than 6 months I replaced everything. At the same time I bought: Netgear CM1100 modem Netgear XR500 router Netgear EX7000 power stripโ€ฆ

Complete garbage product. Avoid anything Netgear does.

I ordered this modem to increase my wired internet speed to Gigabit. When I tried to activate it I couldn't use the automated service for my ISP so I called them and after an agonizing hour and a half they told me that my modem had the same MAC address as another modem that was already connected Service. She. I verified the actual MAC address by logging into the device to make sure it actually matches the sticker on the outside of the device. I then called Netgear support, as the sparseโ€ฆ
