These are great tablets that come in gray or brown. I have both and use them both depending on the piece. I think gray looks great with charcoal veins or pencil. Conte or hard pastels look great on a tan. I use it outside in the woods or by the water and it holds up well in that environment but I also need the heavier product they can have. The tooth on it is sufficient and perfect for sketching, not enough to hold soft pastels without spraying. Hard Conte and Hard Pastel work well separately. When using charcoal, I press down on the part to seat and spray the charcoal. In general, while it is a beautiful paper, it is a pleasant addition and an incentive to work.
