I was a professional glass artist for 45 years before retiring. During my career I have gone through many railroads. I had this iron before it became a Weller product. It was my favorite then and throughout my career. Heats up quickly and maintains a stable temperature. Many dislike it because of its low performance. The ability to maintain a consistent temperature is what you're looking for in an iron. No matter what power, if that ability is there, it doesn't matter. I'm pretty fast at soldering so I really tested the iron. This iron has never let me down. You'll probably need a rheostat to cool it down a bit so you can solder at your leisure rather than running around, but I'd rather slow the iron down than wait for it to heat up and spin my bead. I just retired and the first thing I looked for was this iron. I was happy to know that it's still available after 20 years! It's lightweight and powerful. I can't say anything bad about him.
