I installed this gasket exactly as I was told. Scraped off old upholstery, cleaned surface, waited to dry, then put on the new mesh upholstery and I knew immediately that it wouldn't last. The adhesive strip is as wide as the spacer but the problem is that it keeps pushing down when the grill lid is closed and then lifts up again once the grill is opened. In principle, the adhesive does not cover the entire surface that touches the ceramic when the grate is closed. So what happens when you lift the lid of the grill, the edges inside and out lift with it, meaning the gasket is constantly being pulled up along with the gasket. I haven't even used it for grilling and the top sealing tape is already falling off. The only reason the ground stays is because that's how gravity works. We will send it back as soon as it is physically possible. How's that seal cost ninety bucks? I'm going to buy a regular felt replacement for about $30 which will most likely last a couple of years.
