Review on Wintact DMM Meter - Digital Multimeter with Amp, Ohm, Volt, Diode, Continuity, Transistor Test, AC/DC Voltage, AC Current & Resistance Tester Backlit (Dual Fused for Anti-Burn) by Justin Coatsworth

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Compact, accurate multimeter with few flaws.

This is a typical inexpensive multimeter with the usual voltage, resistance and current ranges. I took various voltage, current and resistance readings from a constant voltage source and a series of resistors and I found the accuracy to be very good, definitely within the stated 0.8% accuracy. In addition to the normal range of resistance settings, the 2kΩ setting is used as the diode test setting and the 200Ω setting is used as the audio continuity setting. This can be a little annoying if you are measuring a low resistance as the beeper is set to a resistance of less than 70 ohms. The multimeter can also measure the hf of a transistor, but I have found that this is almost impossible with this device due to the poor contact between the transistor leads and the multimeter contact points. The numbers on the LCD are 12mm high and easy to read from about 6ft away. The backlight is very bright and stays on for about 2 seconds after the backlight button is released. The meter comes with a removable soft plastic outer case that should provide some protection from falls. The outer case has a built-in kickstand that works, but flexes too much when you press down on the multimeter (e.g. when you want to spin the dial). The guide is mostly helpful, but has some minor inaccuracies and describes some features that can only be found elsewhere. (There is a comparison table in the manual for 4 different multimeters, but the author forgot to put the multimeter model numbers in the comparison table!). The grammar is surprisingly good for a product made in China. I liked the compact size, accuracy, and bright backlight. I was less enthusiastic about the flex stand and the very bad test pins of the transistors. I would like to be able to measure capacitances. All in all this is a very adequate multimeter unless you are using it to test transistors or capacitors.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Crumpled
