Review on πŸ”Œ TRENDnet Network Cable Tester, Ethernet/USB & BNC Cables Tester, Accurately Testing Pin Configurations up to 300M (984 ft), Model TC-NT2 by John Munajj

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Terrible long-term reliability

They break down quickly. I bought two of these. The first one failed after 3 months of brief use. The second finished work and then sat for several years. The next time it was used, it failed because of just a few cables. It looks like the receiver unit failed a second time (always shows wire 1 is bad). A complete waste of money now that there are many cheaper options on the market. Don't waste your money on it. I'm currently trying out a model from Elegiant that can also track cables, at half the price and with the best reviews. Most reviews of this Trendnet model are based on first use. And it works the first time you use it. Trust me, they will fail when needed in the future. After you swap 5 or 6 connectors on the same cable and think you made a repeat mistake, you'll agree with me. I bought one of these for the first time in 2011. The model number hasn't changed, so there's no reason to think they've improved anything in the last 5 years.

Pros
  • TRANSMITTER INTERFACE: 2 test ports, manual test button, auto test button, power/tone switch, LED indicators.
