I love these straws. I had no problem softening them - I even left them in a glass of drinking water for days and they stayed as hard as they were. I've washed and used them several times and so far only one has started to crumble a little at one end and I threw it away. I wish restaurants would use these instead of paper that gets wet (I'm an iced tea drinker and since most places don't provide large spoons I have to use a straw to stir the sugar!) See them in a longer size too Use in large drinking cups or lemonade bottles. Get these, you won't regret it!
