I seem to have tried every type of universal remote known to man. From the One 4 All and RCA I had as a teenager to the leading Logitech Harmony in recent years. This was offered to me by Revain in a one day deal so I thought I'd give it a try. Prior to using it, I used the previously mentioned Harmony and just decommissioned it as it was too buggy and the macro behavior often skipped steps. I've been using it for about two years and no matter how much I've customized it, I've never been able to get it to work properly. I went back and just used the remote that came with the TV so I figured when this deal came up it was worth a try. Setting up this device was a lot easier than the Harmony (much more expensive), adding the device is as simple as installing the app on your phone and pairing it with the remote via bluetooth. Now for the cons, not all my devices were found in the program. He received most of them, but not all were found. I'm sure I could work around this, but I haven't spent much time on it. My primary streaming device is the NVIDIA Shield, it recognized this and was able to pair it to the Shield via bluetooth. This is a plus. The downside here is that when I press the roller to move back and forth between my TV and the Shield, there seems to be a five or ten second delay while the remote connects to the Shield. I'm assuming it's Bluetooth, but that's frustrating. Tap the button and wait for the remote to wake up from sleep mode. This unit also has a dedicated power button to power the TV at the top. It doesn't seem to work when I'm connected to the Shield. I'm still generally happy with the remote and still use it, but I've just found ways to work around the downsides. In a sea of universal remotes, this one is worth trying, but I'm still searching for the perfect one.
