I needed a way to make cheap faceplates for my wood lathe. Metal front panels are too expensive, especially if you need a lot of them. I've seen other people make bezels with strands of wood and I've seen some cracks. These inserts facilitate the production of welded steel end plates or hybrid end plates: wood end plates with steel threads. Always be careful and take proper precautions.
