WARNING - Unreliable Modem and Terrible Customer Service!

I ran into the same problem as James Lutz and many other reviewers. I bought the C6300 just 8 months ago and thought I was getting a much better product from a good company. Stopped today with no explanation. Called Comcast but the signal was good on their end. The guy offered to rent her modem. Devices fail and need to be replaced. I laughed at the idea and said I'd call Netgear, I have new equipment and expect good service, unlike Comcast. Ha, I was wrong! Netgear went on to diagnose the problem, went to great lengths to demonstrate that it was not a hardware issue and therefore the 3 month warranty had expired. She said she knew exactly how to fix the problem, but I would have to pay $159 for 1-year extended coverage or $239 for 2-year coverage. I said that was ridiculous considering it wasn't even a year old and she finally said they would offer a one time fix for $50. I wasn't as smart as James because I only paid for the "push reset" process, so I probably didn't pay for anything. I spoke to the manager and he gave a lecture about how you can't expect technology to last and that nowadays you need extended warranties on everything. NETGEAR no longer supports their products - be careful if you expect this device to last more than 3 months; Add another $50 to $239 to your purchase price or find another brand!
