Too bad, died after 5 months of use.

Too bad I wanted to ask for warranty information because we bought the device in May and it hasn't worked since November. Our ISP came and confirmed it was ready. Paying for 5 months usage was very expensive. We wanted to save money over the long term compared to renting from Time Warner. Has anyone got their money back after such a long time? Such a train. Buyer Warning.

  • Ideal for outdoor activities

DO NOT BUY IF YOU USE XFINITY!

Bought this modem router a few months ago. I had to constantly turn it on and off to make it work. The speed varied from 150 Mbit/s to 1.5 Mbit/s at the entrance and from 2 to 5 Mbit/s at the entrance. This is the worst modem/router I have ever bought. The XFINITY engineer who came to our house said there was a firmware issue that Netgear would not address. This thing has taken up more of my family's time than any other electronic device in our house.

No internet connection to Spectrum

Don't buy a Netgear router if you have a Spectrum! About 2 weeks ago I had problems with my old Netgear router. This will interrupt your internet connection. I figured it was time for a new router so I bought this one. I was still having the problem, so today I called my home ISP (Spectrum-Time Warner) and their equipment was fine. The tech told me they had a meeting this morning and were having issues with Netgear routers after Netgear sent out an update two weeks ago. I called Netgear. The…

Garbage - Nothing but problems

FIRMWARE UPDATE I'm a network systems coordinator. Please note that when you buy a cable modem, its firmware can only be updated by your ISP. So your hardware is only as good as your cable provider's firmware allows. Depending on your ISP, most of them don't update your firmware because it's not their hardware and they want you to use (and pay for) their hardware. Many of the issues I had were fixed in firmware updates that my ISP won't download. You've decided to leave the corrupted firmware…

Best Years of Service for Modems and Routers

When I bought this unit I didn't want to pay Comcast an extra $10/month to rent their router/gateway. After some research I settled on the C6300. Comcast didn't even offer 5GHz at the time of purchase, but I was assured that I wanted that capability. In fact, a few years passed and 5 GHz was proposed. Setup is very easy even if you're not very good at it, and if you run into any difficulties, support is just a phone call or chat session away. I've had my block for 4 years and it's still working

WARNING - Unreliable Modem and Terrible Customer Service!

I ran into the same problem as James Lutz and many other reviewers. I bought the C6300 just 8 months ago and thought I was getting a much better product from a good company. Stopped today with no explanation. Called Comcast but the signal was good on their end. The guy offered to rent her modem. Devices fail and need to be replaced. I laughed at the idea and said I'd call Netgear, I have new equipment and expect good service, unlike Comcast. Ha, I was wrong! Netgear went on to diagnose the…

Highly recommended for Comcast Xfinity.

I love this device! Background: I just moved into an apartment in Chicago. I pay for Comcast Xfinity 75 Mbps at a great price of $39.99/month. After much research I decided to buy this device instead of renting a $10 a month Comcast modem. Because it's a modem and router combo, I can use this device to broadcast WiFi throughout my apartment. I have a large and LONG apartment with at least 3 large rooms (and a long hallway) so I keep this modem/router in the middle room. According to…

Terrible support for Netgear products

I've had this router for a year now. I only installed it to have problems with our iPhones. Android devices worked flawlessly. I assumed I had a cable problem and ended up with a Motorola surf modem. 8 months later my surfboard started having problems and my friend installed the C6300 and it worked flawlessly. I dug mine and reinstalled but encountered the same issues as before. I called the cable company to make sure there were no problems. They confirmed everything was fine and said Netgear…
