I bought these bulbs to put in my underground car park. This old house's odd configuration/wiring required a light switch on a chain, and of course the light was in the center of the room. I got tired of having to dodge any lawn equipment, buckets, etc. that were placed on the trail in the dark. I had no idea these lightbulbs existed until I heard someone ask about lightbulbs at a large store. I didn't quite understand what she was talking about so I asked her when I got home. They work exactly as described. It lights up as soon as I open the garage door (from the house). I don't have to dance around or anything to activate it. It stays on all the time while I'm in the garage, even with minimal traffic (I didn't have to make any coordinated movements to keep it on) and turns off quickly as soon as I leave the place (yes, I got it myself viewed from the door). Our garage has windows so I was worried that too much light would come through and the bulb wouldn't work, but that's not a problem. The only time this was an issue was when I had the outside garage door open.
