Serves a niche purpose but don't expect the world

Okay I read all the reviews on this product and bought it anyway. Here's my scoop: This product fills a small niche for those of us who do business from home who need help keeping track of our expenses and contacts. But don't expect peace from this product. Firstly, it was released not that long ago, so yes, there is room for improvement. Scanning sometimes doesn't work, and yes, sometimes the program freezes. But given what this product does for me, I can live with that. The real beauty is also in the software, which comes with some great reporting features. You can submit all your expenses to your tax auditor in one easy-to-read report. The reports alone will save me a lot of time. And I love scanning business cards. I'm one of those people who just came back from a week long conference with a bunch of postcards that I passed out after a while, although it would definitely be good for my business to get in touch with these people. I was able to scan them and export them to Outlook easily in a short time. SWEET! Now, to address some other people's concerns that I've seen in other reviews: First, I have no idea what they meant by having to reboot the system three times. Mine didn't need a reboot at all, although it did tell me that a reboot might be needed in a few spots. And the software was easy to install. I haven't noticed any performance impact on my computer either and I use a TON of software and hardware. This may be because I have a modern system with lots of memory. Secondly, if you scan too many times in a row, the program will sometimes freeze and lose all your data since the last save. Just keep your data safe by backing up every few scans - it only takes a few seconds. Also during setup you will be asked to be part of a test group that can provide feedback on the product - join it. This is a relatively new product that really saves time - help the company fix bugs in the product instead of just complaining about it. This alone will save you a lot of headaches. And don't forget to calibrate. Speaking of which, the program runs a small tutorial after installation - take a few minutes to go through it and you'll save yourself a whole lot of headaches. Fourth, the accuracy of a scan is entirely dependent on how good your original is. I scanned business cards in dark font on dark or light background and got 100% accuracy. The accuracy rate dropped to around 90% when the card or receipt had faint printing or some kind of damage. Did I have to print something - yes, but not much. And, hey, I don't have to type every field he fills in myself. Fifth, yes, you need to give the receipt or card a little nudge in most cases to start scanning. HI - this is a sheet scanner! If you could show me another sheetfed scanner that doesn't do this, I'd be very surprised. The software will easily use any scanner on your system (I have 3), so just use a different scanner if a particular receipt or business card is giving you trouble. I wouldn't recommend buying it as the only scanner for your system - sheetfed scanners have limited options. In short, it's a great little product, but it's not perfect yet. I'm good with computers and can easily handle the small problems he encounters. If you are one of those people who find it difficult to use scanners or computers in general, then this product is not for you. But if you don't struggle in those areas, then this little one can save you a lot of time and you can throw away those shoeboxes of receipts and business cards that you have.
