I was trying to get away from big heaters for my 5G aquarium. This one was small and took up very little "water space" compared to others (I like the wider blocks in the hull rather than the taller, thin, tubular ones). Unfortunately, the temperature in my room often fluctuates and the 50W version of the heater cannot maintain a stable temperature. If your room has a more stable temperature or you have a smaller 5G tank then that's probably fine, but for me this device is going to go on the 'backup' heap.
