Review on Thermco GW2510 Alcohol Hydrometer Tralle by Chris Cruz

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Close up of my temperature scale

A good combined temperature alcohol hydrometer. The first time I used it, a cheaper device may have broken - I dunked it in a solution that didn't have enough liquid. So the device made a "thud" sound when it hit the bottom of my glass cylinder. I do not recommend throwing the device into the solution, just gently swimming. But somehow he survived. The potential extra cost of manufacturing in the US is worth it. I use it with isopropyl alcohol. The readings, of course, differ from ethanol, but a simple calculation of the deviation will allow the device to work normally. At first I didn't understand how to use the thermometer to make temperature corrections to my readings. But with a search of Table 1 from the TTB Calibration Guide, the Fahrenheit correction method was easy to understand and apply.

Pros
  • Trallé scale measures the weight percentage of alcohol in water
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
