Review on πŸšͺ Kwikset 97300-829 Juno Privacy Knob, 1-Pack, Satin Nickel Finish by Michael Lucas

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Some clicking noise when turning the knob and the striker plate had to be cut deeper

Kwikset door handles are very attractive, have smooth operation and are great value for money. They're also easy to install: most door handles require you to fully loosen the handle connecting screws, reinstall the handles and fully re-tighten the screws, but Kwikset allows you to install a single handle with the screws already installed. Thread the other knob onto the screws and tighten the screws just a few turns to secure the knob. However, I had two problems. The first was a manufacturing tolerance issue on about a third of the door handles I've purchased, resulting in an audible "click" when you turn the handle all the way. The door handle's outer metal shell is crimped onto the inner metal frame through four indentations, but on some handles the crimping still allowed the outer shell to move against the inner frame, resulting in an audible click (some of which were unexpectedly loud) . . I was able to fix this (at least for now) by sliding the rosette (decorative part of the flange) off the frame and applying some superglue to the four places where the door handle housing connects to the frame. Another issue I had was that the locking bezel (not the locking) has a second plate behind it, making it much thicker than my previous locking plate. While this might offer a little extra strength, I also had to gouge the groove deeper to allow the bezel to sit flush against the edge of the door. Sturdy than competitor door handles and good value for money. Let me know if you found this review helpful by clicking below.
