I broke 3 of these because I didn't understand how to install them. Adjust the length before inserting the door jamb. Look at your old one to see how long. Use only your hands to push the plunger to the desired depth, then SLOWLY close the door for the first time. I had trouble installing it on my 2004 JT. I took a small 3/4" x 3/4" block of wood, drilled a hole for the piston and hammered it in with a rubber mallet. Then he entered easily. A month has passed since the installation. I recommend ordering a replacement due to the obscure way of installing them.
