Review on Rancho RS5000X Gas Shocks Set Replacement Parts in Shocks, Struts & Suspension by Charles Thomas

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Perfect length for a 2003 TJ Rubicon with 3 " risers.

Well I've had a few Bilsteins before and they've been incredibly stiff. With Bilsteins on a Wrangler you can tell if the block you're getting is what happened was purchased from Quadratec and although they claim to fit a 3" lift they were actually way too long. Like WAY too long. If you need to compress the shock a little just to align the bolt holes, it is too long. A few inches of compression is normal. But riding at ride height with the shock almost fully compressed is not good. So having had a few hard-riding shocks that also turned out to be TOO long, I was hesitant to order them and maybe Well at such a great price why not I am very pleased to report that both the front and back pair are the perfect e have length for my 3 inch increased TJ. The handling is noticeably "plush" than before. Yes, it will still ride like a Wrangler, but not nearly as hard. Haven't tested them on the trails yet but I'm sure they'll work great as I usually ride off-road at around 7mph! However, if I notice any issues I'll come back and update my review. I don't live in a rust belt so I don't bother with the trim. One thing you may have noticed is that I've decided to get rid of the giant plastic "duster" on the rear shocks. I've never had a problem running shocks without boots, it's a way to reduce water and Keeping dirt in, right? If you also don't like the look of the plastic shock absorber, take wire cutters or heavy duty scissors and carefully trim the edge of the trunk where it wraps around the edge of the panel towards the top bracket and the For those of you with a Jeep Wrangler TJ that you bought with the jack already installed, I've attached some photos above to give you an idea of how high a 3" jack will sit is measured from the garage floor to the bottom of the STANDARD fender flares. The tires are approximately 32.75" tall. If your current ride height pretty close to mine, they fit perfectly. Good luck and happy trails!
