There are many Forstner Bits with prices all over the map. I imagine a cheaper set would be fine for many purposes, especially where tighter holes are needed. But my project in this case was to make a pen/pen case for my daughter. I had to drill smooth and wide holes in a block of wood, which I finally varnished and covered with clear varnish. Oh, and I had to drill them at a slight angle to the wood's surface. The wider the drill, the more difficult the drilling, so I did some research to find the perfect tool for the job. The wavy outer edge of this drill is an advantage that should not be overestimated. Most Forstner bits have teeth on the outside edge, like a hole saw. With the same inner action of the milling cutter, the razor-sharp outer edge with serrated edge is a great advantage in smooth drilling, aligning and spotting, because the outer circumference of the hole can be projected better than with serrations. Teeth. Additionally, Freud's high quality materials and manufacturing process make it top notch and I would happily use it again. It might be a bit pricey for a bit, but it was worth it judging by the results.
