I have a love/hate relationship with this yarn. You get a lot in one go. It's soft. That is beautiful. But it breaks just as easily! For that reason alone, it's not the best yarn to start with. Whether you're just starting out in knitting or crocheting, Red Heart's Ice Cream yarn is soft and beautiful and doesn't unravel at all. However, you are limited to lighter colors. I also love the new Caron Cakes but they are only available in Michaels stores. Although both say they need an H hook, Cakes are actually thicker and work great with a larger hook. Hook H is still perfect for Caron Simply Soft. My favorite part of this line is probably the color options. The variety is fantastic, allowing you to easily and beautifully create a tonal throw. Just keep an eye on the price and try to buy when it's around $3. Then you really get your money's worth. This is my favorite yarn just for the variety and softness.
