Aside from the part number and manufacturer's stamp, this part looks and feels the same as the original part that came with the truck. Is it possible that the same company made them for Toyota, but needed 3 times more for the "Toyota" brand? The original is 18 years old, let's see how long this one lasts. 3 stars for durability because the original was also "thin" but I couldn't find any metal. Go ahead, grab some good spray lube for the metal latches in the tailgate, and I'll put some lithium grease on the plastic parts that rub against each other (while you're there). I think some people with lower ratings didn't smear and weren't happy with the force required to open the gate, but mine works like silk.
